That’s a German flag on the right, and there are other yellow flags with lion shapes on them. Presumably this has something to do with cycling. All I know is that it rules.
That’s actually the flag of Belgium on the right.
The yellow flag is based on the flag of the Belgian region of Flanders. There is a movement in Flanders for independence from Belgium.
Vertical versus horizontal stripes on the flag, good eye. I missed that completely. I’d heard about the Flanders independence movement, but I had no idea their flag was a black lion on a yellow background. Now it makes sense and is, if anything, even more awesome. Thanks.
