It’s almost a callback to the comments Herb Powell’s engineers made about him when he was designing the car. “Oh and his personal hygiene is beyond reproach.”
Also reminds me of, “Oh, you poor unfortunate man. Let’s get you our of those clothes immediately, and we’ll do whatever we can about the smell.”
