See, this is one of those lazy jokes from later seasons that I really despised. She didn’t have any name tag on her up until it’s made obvious, and there’s a huge fucking name tag right there, and then it’s gone again. Like Homer’s scars in many episodes. Or (the absence of) pockets on characters.
I know cartoons don’t have to make 100% sense, but when you want to make a good joke, you don’t usually come up with something so outstanding for its setup.
Later episodes? This was season six (though, outside of a few good episodes [the Halloween episode with “The Shinning”, Homer joins the Stonecutters, Bleeding Gums Murphy dies and Bart sues Krusty for the jagged metal “O” in his cereal, the lemon tree episode, the teacher strike episode, and Krusty’s clown college episode], season six was weak).
That only makes it worse, though.
Totally agree on this one.
The same goes for the bit later on where Marge speaks to Lisa via Videophone as if Homer died when he really just went to work.
Uh, don’t you mean Sky- Ah no, you don’t.
