I’m listening the Season 9 audio commentaries and Jebus, this episode was really weak. Aside of Ned’s excelent “the folks that just doesn’t feel like working, God bless them” and the roof joke, everything here feels like discarded jokes from earlier seasons. And of course Gil is here for some fucking reason.
They could have ended the show on this episode (if ending it on the episode where Homer becomes sanitation commissioner wasn’t an option for some reason). It might be a weak-ass ending for an illustrious series like this, but considering how far it would fall in the years to come (and how little the writers care about their fans), it feels fitting.
Ew, this would definitely not make my list of candidates for a Simpsons finale, even if it does have a few decent jokes.
I honestly think “Homer’s Enemy” would have been a much better series finale, and we wouldn’t have suffered fraud Skinner, lonely Moe and Gil.
But yeah, Season 10 is much, much worse.
