That’s odd, because James L. Brooks considered this episode to be so bad that he specifically told David Mirkin to not make “shit like this.” It really puzzles me on what the Simpsons writers consider good episodes. It seems like they hate the ones that the fans love and quote endlessly, but they love the ones that the fans hate (read: the later episodes, the “zombie” episodes). The DVD commentaries are evidence of that.
