One of the most widely acknowledged great things about The Simpsons that it is quotable in the extreme.  Quoting the show in regular conversation is part and parcel of being a Simpsons fan, either reciting lines that apply in the situation or just randomly because they’re funny.  If you grew up with, or just spend a lot of time with, someone else who does the same you can sometimes have whole conversations that are literally nothing but Simpsons quotes and when you do so it gives you that warm feeling of knowing that someone else loves the same things you do.  What might that look like in comic book form?  I’m glad you asked.

Rebecca Sugar has created a great short comic called “Don’t Cry for Me, I’m Already Dead” about two brothers who speak the language of the Simpsons.  There’s a sample page below (note the “The Bart, The” t-shirt) and you can read it in its entirety here:

The whole thing is great and I loved the ending, which is poignant and funny and also manages to make perfect use of a great quote.  Rebecca’s e-mail address is at the link (though for spam prevention purposes you’ll have to type it in yourself) so if you like the comic send some love her way.  In an e-mail she told me that some people had given this terrific thing thumbs down because they [gasp!] didn’t know the quotes.

Check out the whole thing, it’s a great example of how much fun it is to be a Simpsons fan.

In the words of Homer watching the Three Little Pigs house being blown down:

“That was good… But not great”

I wanted it to be longer! Give me more quotes!
