Saturdays of Thunder3

“Deploy, damn you!  Deploy!” – Martin Prince

This episode is rock solid genius, and while I could go on and on about almost any scene, I’ll just point out one thing and be done.  The image above is of a ten-year-old child on fire, not only is it hilarious, it’s not even the only joke on screen.  There is The Simpsons, and there is everything else.

What I always found hysterical about this is how the firefighters seemed more intent on saving the vehicle than Martin. It’s a great gag, and it’s not even that long.

    I miss these jokes.

Great joke; it’s similar to the moment in “22 Short Films” when the paramedics help Mr. Burns instead of bee-stung Smithers. “Holy smokes, you need booze!”

Gold. I love getting flashbacks to the glorious past on here. Am watching ‘Simpson and Delilah’ right now, happy days.

Not to mention that the same episode also features a kid being mauled by a shark, and its hilarious.

I also love Homer cursing Martin’s name and his denunciation/terrorising of the kid when he’s in hospital.

Come to think of it, “Saturdays of Thunder” could well be Martin’s best episode (“You’re driving for ME now!”).

The angry roar Homer made after Martin said “Mr. Simpson, you have every right to be angry. But rest assured, your son loves you” was brilliant, it also reminds me of a similar frustrated noise Homer made after he read the “Gone baptizin’” sign that Flanders put up at the door in ‘Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily.’

i always was impressed by the agony in Martin’s wails as he runs around on fire …. and then when he is wheeled into the hospital he is reduced to “owie owie owie ow!”
