    1. The writers mostly grew up or lived on the West Coast. Super Bowls used to have kick off in the early afternoon, back in the 70s. So a lot of the writers for this episode probably grew up with super bowls that overlapped at least sometimes with church.

    1. Oh yeah me too :P this episode first aired 20 years ago and still we just notice stuff like this :D

    1. Maybe the church has more than one service on Sunday, and Flanders was at a different one. Although I imagine Flanders would be the kind of person who be at EVERY service on Sunday.

      1. Or perhaps its because the episode was made before Ned’s character was turned ULTRA-CHRISTIAN. There’s kind of a running joke in his earlier appearances about how he’s a pretty relaxed, hip guy.
