Lisa brings in Assemblywoman Maxine Lombard (guest voice Jane Fonda) to put a stop to Mr. Burns’ fracking operation, but is taken aback when the two political opponents find themselves attracted to one another.

Oh boy, a politically charged episode guest starring Jane Fonda.  Also if the above picture is accurate, then implications of dry, wrinkly sex are sure to be abound.

Did they forget how to draw Mr. Burns?

I’m wondering if the way Mr. Burns is rendered in this episode is even less lackluster than what this entry had pointed out for season 21: http://deadhomersociety.com/2010/04/15/compare-contrast-nude-burns/

It also looks like the characters were colored with a highlighter.

That’s the digital ink and paint effect.

To be fair, I always have series 6 and 7 in my head as the “highlighter years.”

By this point, Burns is probably second only to Bart in having guest-star-voiced love interests. (Has he overtaken Lisa?)

Burns has been with….his son Larry’s mother, Gloria and that one who was in an episode last season. Those are the ones I can remember, They may have been more.

Oh yes! Marge’s mother…and of course he also fell for Marge herself when she worked at the plant.

Hoo boy… I forgot it was Sunday. Thanks for the grim reminder, and I look forward to your scathing criticism because I sure as hell am not watching that crap.

Seems like they’re continuing their trend of cannibalizing the classic years, this time remaking Who Shot Mr Burns Part 1.

Also, does anything make sense in this episode. How is Burns’ mansion back after being destroyed 10 minutes earlier? Why is Burns so interested in fracking when the nuclear plant powers everything in town? Why was there an earthquake at the end when earlier fracking had already been going on for (presumably) years?

And Burns was actually willing to pay residents of Springfield for their rights? Zombie Burns indeed.

Fracking? I hate when the Simpsons do ‘South Park storytelling’ ie just looking at whats been in the news and trying (and failing) to build an episode around it.

The Simpsons of my youth was mainly about making comedy out of everyday situations and issues that can affect any family. This is just another heavy handed attempt at provoking debate allied with the cliched opposites attract romance.

I was worried that Bob’s Burgers was on the decline when the premiere was just mediocre but the Halloween episode was brilliant.

I also caught the end of last season’s Treehouse of Horror and realized that a Freaks parody segment would’ve been a hilarious fit for The Simpsons. ZS simply did a plot synopsis with a “Hey look at the Springfield residents as various Circus sideshow attractions!, Ain’t that zany?, Who needs jokes when you got Lenny and Carl as pinheads?”. I think they did the same thing with a previous The Island of Dr. Moreau Treehouse parody. AKA the fucked up one where Homer “snuggles” with cat Marge. I think that was during the weird “Let’s Sexualize Marge Period” because they tried to draw Marge as a “sexy” cat who spent the whole episode being horny.

Sorry for the long comment but has there been any articles about how ZS tried to make Marge a sex symbol? You remember there was a Playboy spread, an episode focused on Marge getting breast implants, and finding excuses to put Marge in skimpy outfits.

I don’t think Charlie Sweatpants has touched on any of the episodes from seasons 13 to 21 (outside of some “Lies Make Baby Jesus Cry” posts or “Crazy Noises”), and he really should (or should have), considering that 12-day Simpsons marathon on FXX that showed anyone who had that channel the rise, fall, and continued descent of this show.

Hell, Charlie didn’t have to watch the marathon, since the show is available for streaming on the website. Or just illegally download the episodes like everyone else. Even if he has to get so drunk that he ends up dead from banging his head against the coffee table or alcohol poisoning with no friends or loved ones to say goodbye or get him to a hospital so he can get proper medical attention, he’ll be a martyr to us all on this website.

Or, if not him, one of the contributing writers. I know someone from “Me Blog Write Good” touched on it (but only on the entry for the episode “Large Marge”).
