  1. Love how this whole gag happens offscreen. All you need is that one great layout of two open doors and the sound effect of Bart opening a can of Buzz. Back when the show knew how to keep things visually interesting.

    1. I wouldn’t call it “visually interesting” or “a brilliant use of ‘show, don’t tell'”. If the commentary has taught me anything, scenes like that are usually the end result of a blown animation budget or the animators’ inability to animate a full scene out of laziness or forgetfulness. But, hey, the best art comes from human error and geeks who are into the epic animation fails of The Simpsons get off on that.

      1. I’ll try to translate the original comment into my language: when you’re out of budget, but you’re a good director, you’ll improvise and make the scene as the above. When you’re out of budget, but you’re a shitty director, you’ll most likely make a montage. Out of every. fucking. scene.

  2. Strangely enough, the latinamerican dub changed “soda” with “whatever you got”. Bart’s loud gargling afterwards let many things free to the imagination.
