    1. It was full of those prizes Homer was finding in his highway sugar foodstuffs.

  1. This is one of those episodes that, as you might say, I enjoyed more the second time around once I got past the not-so-good story. I’m really not a fan of Homer’s constant lying-about-the-gun deal and that ending speech with Homer giving the gun back to Marge really bordered on “preachy” in that “GI Joe” style, buuut… I do love the “send-up to football”, uh I mean, “SOCCER'” opening as well as the riot afterwards (those kids cow-tipping the dog gets me), and I always liked the SL-E–AZY MOTEL sign gag even as a kid (plus all the stuff inside now). Just gotta ignore the poorly-executed plot to enjoy these, though…

But all better than “Bart Star”, in my opinion, which is marred IMO by out-of-character Flanders (guess they thought it’d be waaaackyeeee for him not to be), that gateway-joke with Lisa being morally-opposed-to-everything as an attention-grabber (“gateway” as in paving the way for trend-junkie status), and that shitty ending (so Bart really is gonna go to jail for the rest of his years?) that I hated even as a kid.

          1. Yes, obviously. By the way, how is autist an insult? That’s like calling someone gay. Try again.

    1. Basically, the instant Mike Scully assumed the position of showrunner, the series immediately got into the express lane to Annoyingville and hit the gas.
