I didn’t really think of this until recently, but one thing I don’t like about these Season 9 episodes is how Marge is slowly turning into a pushover, with regards to Homer’s increasing antics. In Zombie Simpsons, she may have become a wet blanket in other areas (probably with Bart), but with Homer, she’s no longer the nagging worrywort we love.
I thought she gave up being a nag after the Brad Goodman episode (season 5). She didn’t nag Bart for stealing the video game in “Marge Be Not Proud”, but she did nag Homer about gaining weight so he doesn’t have to work in “King-Sized Homer”. So I guess the more the show wore on, the more her characterization fell apart, because, let’s face it, most male writers don’t know how to write female characters. That’s why you have daughter characters like Meg from Family Guy, Roberta on The Cleveland Show, Hayley from American Dad, and even Lisa here who are either punching bags, writer mouthpieces, fanservice, or barely there. Tina from Bob’s Burgers and Luanne from King of the Hill seem to be the only exceptions to this.
Plus, you’d end up a pushover too if you were married to Homer (or, worst case scenario, Peter Griffin) and had to put up with his childish crap.
