Very unfortunate they led such a terrible human being to appear on the show, even if I get part of the tone of the joke about the Playboy bunnies in the laboratory.

I love how the very first comment on this post is somebody complaining about Hefner’s appearance on the show.
But that’s probably one of the great things about this show. They were willing to mock everyone and didn’t let political leanings get in the way of making a great joke.
And let’s get real here, it wouldn’t have been nearly as funny if the show went all preachy here instead and denounced him as some kind of chauvinistic pig here. That’s not comedy, that’s a friggin’ lecture.
The difference is that people like Dustin Hoffman or Elizabeth Taylor aren’t know for imprisoning sexy women in their mansions and driving them to suicide or having magazines that makes fun of serious topics like rape or pedophilia.
Characters like Moe aren’t real, they can’t harm people, and yet they’re still portrayed in negative ways. Hefner was a monster. And it’s not like they couldn’t do jokes about other disgusting people. “The Critic” made several jokes about Woody Allen,and unless I remember wrong they were fine. Hefner wasn’t treated as a sane person in this scene, and he’s a jerk to Bart (and it makes a lot of sense that someone like Krusty would be best friends with him), but I still find it unfortunate.
And I laugh at a lot of Simpsons jokes about mysoginy or LGBTphobia, as long as they aren’t at the expense of vulnerable people. Marge jokes are perfect examples: the show had a lot of sympathy for her.
