“Hey hey! I’ve been in Reno for six weeks! Did I miss anything?” – Krusty the Klown
Good news, everyone: I’m not dead, I’m no longer homeless, and that overwhelming global pandemic has (mostly) subsided! Those things have been true for a couple of years now, but what’s new is that I just spent a couple hours messing around with the WordPress theme here and buying this spiffy new domain (deadhomers.com). To my great amusement, someone squatted on deadhomersociety.com when I was too broke to afford it. Enjoy it, algorithm bot, it’s worth it to me for the story alone.
If you are reading this at or near the date it was posted the site is probably pretty messy. If you are reading this in the future, long past the post date, this was the first post under the new theme and hopefully looks nice now.
The site is getting revived for two main reasons:
- I’ve got the blog itch, I need to post and I need to do so in full paragraphs.
- I’ve been working on a new book, and it needs an internet home.
So, there will be book posts, but the primary blog urges I need to scratch are movie reviews, complaints about the quality of the internet, fun stuff I find on the internet, and the occasional news post. I’ll also be firing up the old Quote of the Day machine to keep things lively.
Zombie Simpsons, now running much shorter seasons but still the same creative nullity it’s been for this entire century is going to stagger into S38 in the fall. It’s hard to care, it hasn’t managed to change much since I stopped regularly blogging about it over a decade ago: cheaper animation, weaker voices, no live music, endless recycling, and celebrity guests. I’m sure I’ll mention it occasionally, but actual Simpsons posts should predominate.
And that’s about it for right now. Gotta rebuild the site a little, get the old books back up (the links for the appendices to Zombie Simpsons: How the Best Show Ever Became the Broadcasting Undead are all broken, for example), and archive the old stuff in a useful way.
