There’s some kind of choral rendition of Simpsons stuff being put on by the Tucson Chamber Artists this weekend:
"Marge, you make the best pork chops / Mmmmm, pork chops," they’ll sing in Homer’s homage to his beehive-haired wife. Little Lisa swoons on "I like Langdon Alger / He is very quiet and he enjoys puzzles" while Marge sweetly intones "I love you so much, my little bitty Barty" in Paul Crabtree’s "Five Romantic Miniatures From ‘The Simpsons.’ "
"We’re going to enunciate our texts really well so you can understand the words," said the TCA’s founder and music director, Eric Holtan.
Crabtree’s piece fits nicely in a program of American folks songs and spirituals that kicks off the TCA’s Now More Than Ever season.
There are performances Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Tickets are free for K-12, $10 for college students, $15 general admission. I have nothing further to add, but the Langdon Alger reference lets you know that this guy’s done his his homework.
