I don’t think anyone really wants to see a live action Simpsons movie. However much we can giggle and titter at the porno-parody, an actual movie would be a pop culture catastrophe of a kind not seen since those live action Flintstones movies that John Goodman’s agent promised never to mention to him again. That said, it is fun to speculate about who could be each character.
Most of the time these sorts of lists try to cast someone as Homer or Marge or other major characters, but this one focuses instead on all those one off guest characters that have been on the show. It’s in three parts:
Seasons 11-15 (okay, this one is mostly Zombie Simpsons, but I don’t care)
As with any list of this stripe, there are ones I agree with and ones I don’t, and ones where I have no idea who the real life actor in question is. Some of my favorites include:
- Tilda Swinton as Ms. Botz
- David Cross as Professor Lombardo
- Helena Bonham Carter as Ms. Sinclair (of the Ayn Rand School for Tots)
- Craig Ferguson as Sebastian Cobb
- Ian McKellen as Chester Lampwick
- Stephen Lang as Hank Scorpio (ha!)
- Cate Blanchett as Shary Bobbins
Just with those seven alone you’d have the makings of a decent comedy sketch. Albeit one that would be prohibitively expensive and subject to an immediate nuclear assault from FOX legal.
