Great perspective in this screenshot! Another thing that only the Simpsons have.
I was thinking this the other day, about how the Simpsons was downright — for a lack of a better word — EXPERIMENTAL, at times. With the direction, the angles, the editing (DENTAL PLAN!), the scene transitions, etc. Some of that stuff doesn’t seem so out of the ordinary now, but for 1989-ish, it was truly remarkable for … an animated sitcom, which was also truly remarkable.
I think it mainly has to do with all the great and weird directors they hired to direct the show. I mean, they got the Kamillions (super weird experimental horror film)/Tripping the Rift dude as a director!
“Lisa, you and your stories: Bart is a vampire; beer kills brain cells……….. Now let’s go back to .. that building… thingy… where our beds and TV… is.”
