Several years ago, while on holiday in the beautiful city of Boston, I bought a copy of
“Johnny Tremain” to take back to my native Ireland. It was a present for my cousin (she loves historical novels). As I paid for it I mentioned “Remember this book was mentioned in “The Simpsons?””
“Oh really? I didn’t know that” said the assistant.
I repeated Bart’s line about “Johnny Deformed” and we both laughed.
We were two complete strangers, and yet a joke from vintage ” Simpsons” was enough
to unite us in laughter.
