There’s something about watching this show that’s so remarkable. That a character normally seen as oafish and beyond stupid can appear utterly human. Even though there’s a joke in there, the way Homer leaves his lap open for snowball is much more sentimental than any forced resolution from the newer seasons. It’s really quite a beautiful sight.
