Maybe it’s me but I never liked the character of Herb, specially in this episode. Seriously, it was pretty much his fault for hiring someone that has never made a car in his life.
Watching this episode I am always reminded of a quote from Mr Henry Ford, of the Model T Ford and Ford Motor Company, when he was asked if he listened to what his customers said they wanted. He said he didn’t ask, because he knew what their response would have been. “Faster horses”. The working man doesn’t really KNOW what he wants until he sees it because he lacks the imagination to bring together a solution to his life’s inconveniences. Perhaps this is the lesson Herb needed to learn. The reason he had designers and engineers and marketing people etc was to avoid the making of the Homer J Simpson version of “faster horses”.
hah cool quote!
Yeah, I always felt that was the point of the first Herb episode, which makes this sequel episode kind of weird. Homer did exactly what Herb asked him to do, and this episode treats him as the one who needs to atone.
Man, saw the quote, came here to lay the smackdown on the episode and found three people beat me to it.
Never let it be said that classic Simpsons never had its frustratingly stupid moments.
