   I thought they never had a fancy wedding, as the photo seems to indicate.

      Yeah. Their wedding was at Shotgun Pete’s and, according to “A Milhouse Divided,” their cake was Fudgie the Whale from a roadside Carvel shop (and Homer saw a Levi’s truck and wondered if they sold jeans). Then again, “The Devil and Homer Simpson” from “Treehouse of Horror IV” revealed that Homer and Marge got married in the hospital because Homer gorged himself on cake and got sick. Sadly THoH episodes aren’t canon, so that one doesn’t count.

   Other great example of “livin’ in the past” quotes by the Simps:

   Marge: What happened to you, Homer? And what have you done to the car?
   Homer: Nothing.
   Marge: I don’t think it had broken axles before.
   Homer: Before, before! You’re living in the past, Marge! Quit living in the past!
