Beautifully animated scene. I’ve always loved the psychedelic colors the show used in its scenes.

A few notes: Why are the Hibberts sitting with Rev. Lovejoy? Who is Kirk Van Houten sitting with? Isn’t the black-haired guy sitting on the far right, in the blue suit, Scott Christian (the news anchor who’s not Kent Brockman)? And where’s Marge?

    End transmission.

Okay, one: The Hibberts might have invited Rev. Lovejoy for dinner out. Two, it looks like Kirk is sitting with some generic background character (back when the show did that instead of loading background scenes with recurring characters). Three, yes, that is Scott Christian. Four, if I’m remembering the episode right, Marge isn’t in this scene. This is during the sequence of Lisa helping Homer become a better food critic.

      >Why are the Hibberts sitting with Rev. Lovejoy?
They’re friends. They had a dinner together in the Flanders’ house in “Marge in Chains”. They’re also at Marge’s part in “A Milhouse Divided”. This isn’t a case of putting unrelated characters together.

      >Who is Kirk Van Houten sitting with?
Looks like one of the germans who bought SNPP. At least the hair is the same.

      >Isn’t the black-haired guy sitting on the far right, in the blue suit, Scott Christian (the news anchor who’s not Kent Brockman)?
Now this is a case of putting characters for the sake of it.
      And yes.

Why? He’s a celebrity, and it’s a restaurant for celebrities.

The guy Kirk is sitting with could also be Karl (Homer’s assistant in “Simpson and Delilah”)….except with brown hair this time.
