Sounds like there will be some Homer shenanigans tonight, not that there isn’t in every other zombie simpsons episode, but I can’t think of anything else to write. Kristen Bell will be the voice of Harper, so even money there is a sloth in the show at some point.

Wow, Homer makes friend with another billionaire. It’s nice to see how the writers put so much effort in creating all these very original everyday stories we all can relate to.
They must stay up all night, driving themselves to tears to put out such brilliance.
When was the first time, when he was Max Power or when he found his long-lost half brother and ruined him? Or that time he tried to make Mr. Burns popular?

I’m kind of surprised that the “Lisa makes a friend” storyline hasn’t been beaten into the ground like some of the other recurring storylines have. Writers seem to be showing some restraint there. Nevertheless, I doubt they’re gonna do anything interesting with it.

I meant not as badly as some of the other storylines. (I also don’t consider love interest episodes as friend episodes)
Oops, there was also “Summer of 4ft2”. I dunno, I somehow consider them both, because unlike Bart-involving storylines, Lisa can’t really make any friends. But she always ends up being just friends with any potential love interests, while Bart simply breaks up.
And seven (the last episode of the season where Lisa makes friends with those beach kids after realizing no one in school likes her enough to sign her yearbook).
Added that up just above.
There was also the one where she goes to the army with Bart. Not quite the same material, but still after 8 or so seasons it felt quite fresh.
It wasn’t the army; it was a military school (Bart blew out the town’s glass with bullhorns and Lisa joined him because public school was too boring for her).
They had a Lisa makes a friend episode last year. I can’t even remember that girl’s name.
Yeah, but it’s not something they do several times a season like with “Homer gets a job”.
When that’s a relief I always remind myself jumping off the rooftop is an option.
No, the one they do several times a season is “Marge and Homer’s marriage is in trouble”. They even did it three times in season one: Marge gets seduced by a French bowler, Bart takes a picture of Homer dancing with a belly-dancing stripper, and Marge calls a radio show to air out her grievances about Homer not appreciating her (then Homer takes her out to a hotel while a wanted fugitive babysits the kids).
That was sold as a kind of novel thing back then, though: the “dysfunctional family” sitcom. It’s not that these are three unrelated events in the first season, more like a constant aspect of their lives.
The dumb thing about the “kids make new friends” plots is that many of their classmates who have been there since Season 1 or 2 still haven’t been fleshed out as characters at all. There are probably even some pretty decent Lisa & Janey stories that haven’t been done yet.
That’s one thing that always bugs me. Plus, the new friend characters rarely appear again after the episode.
True, but you have to admit the “Homer and Marge’s marriage is in crisis” story is one of many to get run into the ground. Also, the flashback episodes of how they met/dealt with the kids when the kids were younger.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. “Homer’s Night Out” is the only one jeopardizing their marriage back in S1. “Life on the Fast Lane” deal with Marge’s personal problem of deciding whether or not to have a lover. The latter one you state was just a setup for the whole plot. They did exploit this theme twice in some seasons, but most of them were Zombie era seasons. And past S20 is where it really got obnoxious and repeating.
Funny thing is, if you have a look at what the other animated primetime sitcoms are showing us nowadays, you get about the same percentage of “marriage in trouble” plots per season per viewership year. The now cancelled Cleveland Show used to pitch those in at least 4-5 times every season (and no, it wasn’t why it got cancelled – Obama just lost credibility, that’s all).
Kiristen Bell is the guest star. I bet there will be at least one Frozen reference.
On one hand this gripe could seem anal as hell, but it really is a good example of how little the writers think about things.
The title “friend with benefit”. It’s a play on the term “friends with benefits”. But WHY is it a play on that term? It means exactly the same thing. Two friends who have sex could also be called having a “friend with a benefit”, and the situation is this episode is exactly the same, only instead of sex it’s money.
I hope you can follow what I’m saying here. I don’t know what the fuck goes through these writers’ heads.
To clarify, that title shouldn’t be a pun. It doesn’t need to be. It’s like making a pun of the term “surfing the web” to “surfing on the web”.

I was thinking the same thing. I mean, I guess it technically makes sense in that a character in the show has a new friend with some kind of benefit, but like you say, there’s no real play on the term. They might as well call the episode “Lisa’s New Friend” or “Homer Hangs Out With A Billionaire”. Granted, crappy episode titles are the least of the show’s problems, but it does show how lazy things have gotten.

Aren’t friends who fuck with each other really supposed to be fuckfriends? I mean the way I see it, this isn’t friendship anymore, it’s like being too poor or too lazy to get paid sex, but knowing you don’t love the person all the same.

It was decent. Could’ve been a lot better, but could’ve been a lot worse.
It was meh. Some of the stuff with the kickstarter parody at the beginning was okay (key word being “okay”), but then it went downhill from there.
Kinda sickened by the crack forming on Homer’s head after hitting the wall though.
It was horrible. I had to pause the video when I saw the part where they thought they were burning the chair, but wait! That’s not the chair, it’s grandpa!

I am pretty sure doing a guest voice on The Simpsons is the Hollywood equivalent of jury duty. Surprised Veronica Mars dodged it for this long. I was not shocked to read she played Lisa’s frienemy because it was either that or Bart’s love interest.

I think SNL Community Service only applies to the Not Ready for Prime Time Players stuck in a contract when they’re clearly ready to move on like your Will Ferrells and Amy Poehlers.
Being a guest host on SNL must be great because Lorne Michaels and the crew bend over backwards to fellate you like they did for Donald Trump.
