After a mother-daughter spat, Marge takes Lisa to Capital City, where, after enjoying a musical, the show’s star sings Marge’s praises to remind Lisa how lucky she is to have such a special mom. Meanwhile, Bart is bummed that everyone expects him to be the ultimate prankster, so he recruits Maggie to help him trick people.
Andrew Rannells will voice himself tonight, so he must be show’s star that sings Marge’s praises. This won’t come close to being as funny as “The Book of Morman”, but I am going to give him a pass. Only because I almost pissed my pants at that show however.

That was another Stan. I mean you. Ah-ha!
I’ve never been the name changer if we’re being honest here. I always assumed it was you
Why would I change names to something you’d find out anyway?
The only Stan here is another Stan, and even I’m not really that “original Stan” from 2010 because like I said if you look back our comments differ a lot.
I’m just shittin yo =)
Well whoever you are, go fuck yourself.
^Not a real comment from me
You know I’m more friendly to my buddy Stan
Fuck you.
You’re welcome!
Having fun with yourself? No, no, do carry on. We like to watch.
Lol everyone knows you’re the fake Stan
Are they going to have Lisa and Marge fight about something every other episode?
Is it me or is Lisa really off-model here?
She is not wearing her pearls.
The episode shows the “origin” of her first getting her pearls from Marge to later show her taking them off to show how much she hates Marge for insulting jazz (yes, really).
Mostly dreadful episode. Andrew Rannells was one of the better guest stars, though I didn’t cared for how he was Simpsonized.
Bad News Bears: The Musical is a funny idea, though not nearly as memorable as Planet of the Apes: The Musical, with the only good bit being the malfunctioning prop at the end. Also notable that for no other reason whatsoever (because Rannells plays the Watthau character), they have a prop of Walter Mattau appear a the end so he can be voiced by Dan Castellaneta in his Season 1 Homer voice.
The whole Marge/Lisa thing was not interesting in the least.
Why were Marge’s pearls white? This episode made my left arm go numb.
Damn, so it’s a stinker? Jeff Martin’s first script since Season 5, I expected a homerun…
You could get a script written by the greatest comedy writer in the world and it wouldn’t matter; once it goes through Al Jean’s factory-like writers’ room, it’ll never be in the same territory as funny ever again.
I head he hires typewriting monkeys to supervise.
“It was the best of times, it was the BLURST of times?!”
“You STUPID Monkey!”
It seems that they are trying to have more character driven plots this season. Or at least try to tell more of a story instead of just a collection of gags. It’s almost like they are trying to write something good like in the past. But this episode still felt flat. The story wasn’t that compelling and the jokes were just okay.

This is probably the reason why I’ve seen people say this is the best season in years. Episodes still feel bland to me, though.
I admire those who still try to find something of “best” value in there. If an …episode… actually feels to them in any possible way, they must be trying real hard.
I thought that Maggie and Bart bonding was actually kind of sweet..
