Ahh the best of season 7. I knew you loved this one Charlie.
I’m aware of the flaws in this one, yet I still enjoy. Still a better episode than Zombie Simpsons could even DREAM of creating.
That was a season 8 episode.
Ah, when Half-Zombie Simpsons hit an all time low point.
I love this episode and this moment. It’s cold and cruel, yet funny. I’m aware of the Frank-Grimes-episode-gave-rise-to-Zombie-Simpsons argument, but I think it’s a masterpiece of social criticism/comedy. That is all.
I’m with you here.
This kind of absolute pitch-black humour is why I really don’t enjoy this episode. I can appreciate how fully they commit to their premise, it’s a perfect ending, it’s just a bit much for me.
Yet another reason why the show should’ve hung it up after Season 8. I maintain that this episode, in an hour-long double feature with “The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase”, would’ve made a fantastic series finale.
I’d still prefer Behind the Laughter, but they’d made a good pre-finale warmup.
Behind the Laughter is an awful episode (to end it on and in general). I’d rather have any of these be the series finale of The Simpsons than “Behind the Laughter”:
-Krusty Gets Kancelled (something about the end with the Komeback Special wrap party screams “We’re ending this show”. Besides, by season four, a lot of the original series writers were burned out and contemplating leaving the show — and a lot did after the episode where The Simpsons go into witness protection after Sideshow Bob gets released on parole [which would have made a good Simpsons movie, but not a feature film one, just a small-scale made-for-TV movie]).
-Rosebud (a.k.a the “Mr. Burns loses Bobo the Teddy Bear” episode)
-the Who Shot Mr. Burns two-parter
-The one where Lisa changes her personality so she can be friends with some beach kids.
-The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show (a lot of the meta-humor about I&S losing its charm due to being on forever can easily be applied to The Simpsons)
-The season 10 episode with the Bible stories and how it ends with The Simpsons going to Hell (controversial choice, yes, but anyone with isn’t a total Simpsons fanboy would love it).
-The season 17 episode “We’re on the Road to D’ohwhere” (just for the ending where Lisa and Maggie are the only ones left to fend for themselves)
-The season 18 episode “You Kent Always Say What You Want” (another controversial choice, but it was the last episode made before The Simpsons movie and they could have ended the show right there).
Oh, I forgot: the 200th episode where Homer becomes sanitation commissioner and floods the town with trash. Why? Because a lot of family sitcoms end with the family moving away from their home. Since this is The Simpsons, why not take it to ridiculous extremes by having the entire town move, leaving behind two American Indians who are forced to live in the landfill where Springfield used to be?
I’m sorry, but just the fact that you listed three Zombie Simpsons episodes as possible finales, not to mention hating on BtL at all, renders your opinion meaningless.
“The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show” is the only real contender in there anyway. Nothing else in there really feels finale-ish.

How many times has Charlie pointed out the same problems in Zombie Simpsons over and over and over? I guess the rules has been broken since day one by the DHS people.
In all seriousness, at this point people come here every day either because:
a) they want to read QotD, or
b) the ocasional anti-ZS post/review
How’s different from people going to Church every sunday to hear how terrible they are and how are they gonna suffer in Hell? Charlie does his job, we enjoy his work, Al Jean passive-aggresively recognizes the criticism, Routine is preserved, we are all happy and a little closer to our deaths.
