This is a pure John Swartzwelder joke if I’ve ever seen one. Extraneous to the main story yet still tangentially related to it, exaggerated to the point of being cartoonishly insane, and over so fast that you’re not even entirely sure it was real.
My thoughts exactly. It’s not thrilling, not thrilling to the soul, thrilling to the *human* soul, layers of insanity and exaggeration.
