I always thought this episode was Homer at his sweetest. He thinks he’s a failure for how much he screws up, even though Marge admires him for bending over backwards to fix his mistakes and make everything right. And I still don’t get why that trait is so hard for the current slate of writers to comprehend.
Why do you think the writers care about the show and it isnt just a job for them?
Bullseye *taps nose*
Because most of them are Ivy League graduates and could 100% work elsewhere if they wanted to?
Agreed. It’s cute because he cares about his role as a provider for his family, and funny because he caves in so easily when Marge still wants to make him breakfast.
Nice for Marge to get a decent laugh line, too. Was fairly rare even in the golden years.
The Simpsons was a better show than most others when it comes to female characters but it was nowhere perfect.
