“Homer, you will find her a man!” – Marge Simpson
“Alright.” – Homer Simpson
“And not just any man!” – Marge Simpson
“Okay.” – Homer Simpson
“He should be honest and caring and well off . . . and handsome.” – Marge Simpson
“Hey! Why should she have a better husband that you do?” – Homer Simpson

Now THIS episode does a good job of using the “Homer as matchmaker” concept. It’s funny, in character, and nobody has to die to get it started.
“nobody has to die to get it started”
Totally irrelevant. Lots of great episodes start with a death. Selma’s Choice, a similar episode to the QotD, has Selma wanting a partner/kids after the death of her aunt.
“Lots” of great episodes start with a death? What show have you been watching?
And you’re seriously going to compare the death of a one-shot (I think) character like Aunt Gladys to the Itchy & Scratchy style way they knocked off Maude Flanders?
Hang your head in shame.
