classic. doesn’t get much better than the delivery on I SAID SLAG OFF!
I love love love that the Simpsons use these to show what a wreck Bart’s life is going to become, and yet everytime they come back to reality Bart says, “cool.” I think it’s Separate Vocations where Skinner tells Bart he always had him pegged as a drifter, and then Bart imagines his older self as a drifter. “Lousy sheriff, run me out of town. He’s lost my vote.” And of course Bart thinks this is cool. Almost every show in the history of the universe would use fantasies like that to give the character a lesson, to scare him straight. Not on the Simpsons, a show much too clever to fall into cliche like that. You’re going to become a drugged-out rock star? Cool. You’re going to become a drifter? Also cool. I can’t tell you how much I love that.
By the way, I love that animation. With the HD animation they have now, there’s no way a scene like that could look as vibrant and interesting. All the perfectly straight lines make for a very boring view.
