its not really a complaint, but couldn’t Marge have a bought a slightly cheaper but still quality second dress? Was it really between a $10,000 Chanel and her old green one?

After decades of watching, Marge has become my favorite character her extreme straight-man routine ages very well, whereas it went unnoticed when I was younger.

I thought the dress cost $90 but was marked down from $2800? Seems reasonable to me – even if she had bought it new, it would have just been splurging.

At the end she bought a new Chanel dress with their life savings (before returning it for store credit) I just wondered couldn’t she have bought a cheaper but nice one.

It’s okay. Those snobs would have never made them members, anyway.

That would’ve made more sense from an objective viewpoint, but Marge spending so much on the dress at the end made sense within the episode. We’d seen her obsession with climbing the social ladder grow through the episode, to the extent that she clearly believed only another Chanel outfit would help her to fit in. We do see her go back to the designer outlet, too, so we know it was a last resort.
