“Boys and girls, today we will begin selecting a class president.  I’m not allowed to vote, but I strongly suggest you elect Martin.  Martin?” – Mrs. Krabappel
“As your president, I would demand a science fiction library featuring an A-B-C of the overlords of the genre: Asimov, Bester, Clarke!” – Martin Prince
“What about Ray Bradbury?” – Wendell
“I’m aware of his work.  Thank you, and keep watching the skies!” – Martin Prince

So long, Mr. Bradbury.

Thanks to reader Harley for the suggestion.

YES! Thank you, this was the exact quote I thought of when I saw Bradbury had died. “I’m aware of his work” is such a funny line and funny reading, I love it.

Ha, I thought about it too…

A few months ago I was showing a some episodes to a friend who sadly was deprived of the Simpsons by her prudish parents growing up, this being one of them, and when this quote came up she jumped up and shouted “YO, you did NOT just diss Ray Bradbury!” XD

A perfect example of how a written quote really doesn’t do it justice. Russi Taylor’s reading of “I’m aware of his work” is hysterical, like it bothers Martin to even bring up Bradbury’s existence, let alone acknowledge his literary work.

So true – when reading the quote, I imagined the scene in my head, as I saw it so many times. Never considered how wonderfully it was delivered.
