I recently re-watched the movie Small Soldiers (where the toys are alive and try to kill each other) and I had totally forgotten Our Beloved Phil was in it. He really made an otherwise mediocre film that much better with his “jerky neighbour” schtick. Wasn’t very well written, but he made an otherwise bland character more than tolerable. A shame he didn’t do more decent movies/shows really. But I’ll always remember him from such films as Sgt Bilko (with Steve Martin) and, of course, The Simpsons. I wonder if Lionel Hutz ever returned that call from the supreme court about that freedom thing…
This harmless line feels a whole lot creepier knowing what happened to Phil.
