Just looking at that screencap, you know it’s from a later season.
It’s the digital coloring, I think. Also, Homer looks like he was composited in, for some reason.

> season 10
still it’s not as bad as the Zombie seasons with all the shading everywhere.
He’s got a heavier line weight, not to mention it’s noticeably messier.
At least there is some scenery with the nets and plastic sea things that scream “Sea Food Department”.
Oh pinchy, I made you some risotto!
also, the names of their pets were much more creative during the Simpsons days – Pinchy, Clip Clop, Stampy (not to mention Snowball II and SLH). Duncan was also a good name for a horse, despite it being a horrible episode (granted his name changed to Furious D right at the point where the episode started to fall apart).
You know what’s sad? The Simpsons Tapped Out finds it necessary to spell out the Snowball II joke.
Why are the shadows behind the cells so visible? Season 9 tends to have this rough look to it. Did the animation process change around that time?
Anivision got really crappy around that time, for some reason – most of their Season 10 episodes like Mayored to the Mob and Homer to the Max are rife with off-model animation. I think Rough Draft permanently replaced them in Season 11.
