Klasky-Csupo’s animation was too crude (I prefer their work on Rugrats and Duckman, but not The Simpsons). I prefer Film Roman pre-digital ink and paint.

I cut it to the part just before Krusty opens his eyes and made an avatar with it.
I remember the first time I watched Season 1 in order when I got the DVD, and this was the moment where I realized the leaps and bounds they’d already made in terms of comic timing after just a few months of doing the show. A lot of the visual jokes in the first half of the season are too muddy and fall flat, but this makes me laugh out loud every time I see it.
