Does anyone actually like this episode? Outside of some of the jokes in the beginning (Marge telling Homer that he spent his Saturday drinking in Maggie’s kiddie pool and the burn against “Ren and Stimpy” recycling old material to make new episodes), I found this one to be very weak.
Well, montage episodes are never that good compared to the actual stuff. But at least it wasn’t done theater-style.
Exactly, though the 138th episode special and the April Fools episode with Homer in a coma are probably the only clip show episodes of The Simpsons I like. I just thought that episode was bad, except for what I mentioned. In fact, season six isn’t all that fun to rewatch (except for the “backyard pool/Rear Window parody” episode, the Stonecutters, the lemon tree episode, Marge becomes a cop, Bleeding Gums Murphy dies/Bart gets appendicitis, and some others I’m missing. I think I’m the only person in the world who though “Lisa’s Wedding” wasn’t all that funny, but it did have the kind of heart-warming sarcasm that kept it from being a total failure).
