“That Quimby fella promised to build us a Matlock Expressway. How you gonna top that, smart guy?” – Abe “Grampa” Simpson
“How’s this? I’ll not only build the expressway, I will spend the remainder of this afternoon patiently listening to your interminable anecdotes.” – Sideshow Bob
“Hot, diggity damn, me first!…Not many people know, I owned the first radio in Springfield. Weren’t much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. A, he’d say, then B, C would usually follow…” – Abe “Grampa” Simpson

Just letting you know (in case you didn’t already) that Jan Hooks, who played Manjula until 2002 as well as Futurama’s Angleyne, died today.

at 54 ? damn :(
Ah, damn. That really is sad. Peace out to her and to her family.
I feel kind of bad not commenting on the news shared above, but I want to remark how this episode is so underrated–it seems to be the Sideshow Bob episode most people remember the least (not counting any zombie crap, of course).
That’s because the political jokes on this episode were too heavy-handed. At least that’s what snpp.com thinks of this episode. A lot of season six’s eps were weak-sauce, but I liked this, the Treehouse of Horror with The Shinning, Marge joining the police force, the teachers going on strike, the lemon tree, the Stone Cutters, and Lisa mourning Bleeding Gums Murphy while Bart sues Krusty for giving him appendicitis.
Yeah, I can see how people dislike this episode for that reason. I’ve noticed that I don’t share the same tastes in episodes as a lot of people–I actually don’t care much for The Lemon of Troy myself, but a quite a few fans seem to like that one.
