Always love the way the THoH segments went all out for their direction/animation. No rules story-wise, and the same applied to the visuals.
One of the finest, most clever THOH ever and I realm wish, on a side note, that they would have done a Little Shop of Horrors parody back in the day.
I heard they were planning to do a Monty Python parody (or intro) around season 9 or so. I know it’s nothing like what you mentioned, it just came to my mind when you said it. Also, I’m guessing THoH is the only concept they can still leech ideas from, considering more and more cheapass horror flicks are coming our way every fucking year.
I love David Mirkin’s comment about this shot on the DVD commentary – “We almost did a full 360, but we ran out of money there.”
I also love Marge here – she has this calm, almost deadpan demeanour about her, even when witnessing her husband going bonkers – kind of like how Ned Flanders used to be as well. There was a strength to her that was so encouraging and reassuring.
Nowadays, Marge is an emotional wreck – either too bitter or too fragile. Gone is her agency. Gone is her confidence. Now she’s just another appendage to Homer.
