The back story to this episode was a bit weird with the children trying to figure about what was up with the parents. also the reason for why the love tonic worked was revealed in a single line delivered by Dr. Hibbert.
And how did it go from being a great-selling product to being a dud?

When Homer left the sales team Abe lost his patsy. Homer could look and act stupid enough to need the tonic, but wasn’t so dumb that he didn’t know his lines and whatnot. And I thought the kids trying to work out what was happening to the parents was great. Perfect “kids being kids”. I still talk about the reverse vampires.

This guy also punched a hippie in the face in “Bart of Darkness.”
