Wouldn’t Mrs. Krabappel be suspicious that the “Bart” in her class is reading? Or is she that oblivious?
And that’s from season 10’s “Lisa Gets an A,” one of the few episodes from season 10 that didn’t suck.
If you look closely, I think the book says “History”. So, presuming it’s a history class, why would a careless teacher try to intervene when her student reads the matter by himself?
Yes, but Mrs. Krabappel in some of the older episodes was at least aware of most of the crap Bart pulled (synthesizing a laxative from peas and carrots, replacing her birth control pills with Tic Tacs, shoving fireworks down a kids’ pants, bringing in a Krusty doll with a switchblade head, forgetting to do a book report). That’s why that scene bothered me so, even though, as I said before “Lisa Gets An A” is one of the better episodes of season 10.
As a surrealist throwaway joke to explain away a logical gap in the story, I think this works quite well. It’s quick, goofy, and over before you have too much time to think about it.
Yep, I was reading the Crazy Noises for this episode (“Lisa Gets An A”… right?) and wondering about how they covered the story gap of Bart somehow being not in class, but as a quick gag this works quite well. Much better than having Bart say “beats school” or Homer say “beats work”. Bonus points for noticing the surrealist (and also throwaway) aspect of this, it fits quite well with Snowball II and SLH watching TV late at night in “Bart’s Comet” or the Estonian midget from “Burn’s Heir” or “Radioactive Man”.
Today they’d probably linger over this and have an unfunny 20 second scene with Ms. Krabapple (or one of his classmates since she’s dead, whoops!) and the latex mannequin dummy, goofily interacting with each other.
Today they’d have given Bart an actual clone.
If they want to go there, yes, but Victor Dang’s idea is more on-point.
Why this QotD’s tags doesn’t include the name of the episode?
Maybe because its animation looks suspiciously like a Season 10+ episode?
Because Stupid Sexy Flanders.
Shut up.
Nobody likes Stan!!
Lisa Gets an A *is* from season 10 (production code AABF03; right after “D’oh-in In The Wind” [the “Homer acts like a hippie” episode] and before “Homer Simpson in “Kidney Trouble” [one of the most despised episodes ever in most Simpsons lovers circles]).
Which is why I said “Season 10+”.
Anyway I wasn’t sure it was ” Lisa Gets an A”. I don’t care abouy Season 10.
