    huh – $40 a day, $200 a week; a bit over $10K a year.
    while the simplest explanation was that the writers didn’t think it through, and used the number for comedic purposes, it would also be interesting to think that the Simpsons were a family that lived well below the poverty line.
    Would make sense considering that they couldn’t afford an air conditioner, a new sax for Lisa, or that Marge had to drive miles and miles to purchase a single fancy Chanel outfit at a discount price

      Yeah, that’s pretty much the implication (and the reason why the show had so many episodes where the family has a financial crisis — and, yes, I am including “Homer vs. Dignity”).

      Uh, you don’t earn money to spend money. You earn it to store it until you’re too old and the government doesn’t pay your retirement.
      And only fucking immigrants live below poverty line, white people never live below it. Because white people are smart enough and willing to work, not do nothing and get your welfare while complaining about how the government disrespects you because you’re a migrant.
