Homer is diagnosed with narcolepsy — but instead of returning home with his prescription medication — he returns home drunk. He and Marge visit a marriage counselor and have a trial separation, during which Homer begins dating a 20-something.”

Here we go, welcome to season 49. Oh wait, what’s this? Homer has another love interest and his marriage to Marge is in jeopardy, AND they separate?? AAANNNDDD There is a trendy guest star??????

I can see what went down in the writer’s room now:

Writer 1: I have the perfect idea for the season opener.  We have Homer and Marge break up again and Homer can meet another woman, and also move out I guess.

Writer 2: I feel like we did this several times before…. Will there be a couple of gay guys or Weird Al again?

Writer 1: Even better. We got Lena Dunham and her friends from that show we don’t watch. That’s kind of like a couple of gay guys and Weird Al, only, you know, gayer.

Writer 2: Sure, whatever. Wait, what show are we writing for again?

Head Writer: Hey, if you ladies are done clucking I need someone to help me finish this ‘autobiography’ of Rupert before he gets back from the puppy and kitten slaughterhouse tomorrow morning.

… That’s probably close. Enjoy the show or don’t, I obviously won’t.

Isn’t this actually going to be the first marriage-in-jeopardy episode to have Homer start dating someone else? He wasn’t in a relationship with his gay roommate in “Three Gays of the Condo.”

However, this is at least the second time they’ve used the dream cop-out after a marriage-in-jeopardy plot goes to far- I think the first was season 19’s “Husbands and Knives.”

Would it be so much to ask the writers to try? I mean, there are so many people trying to make it in the entertainment industry, surely it can’t be that hard to find writers who are at least TRYING to make something decent.

The people trying to make it in the industry (myself included) are too busy making shows that blow this one right out of the water, making online series, or trying to get on Saturday Night Live (another show that, like The Simpsons, is said to be going downhill, but at least SNL tries to be entertaining as it hits 41 seasons and shows no signs of stopping). So who gives a crap about writing for this show when there are other non-Simpson ways to spend your Sunday nights?

I say, just stand back and watch the show burn…like this website’s been doing since 1999.

Wow! A marriage crisis! What a fresh way to start the season! * Sarcasm*

And they are shoehorning in the cast of a somewhat popular HBO show!

    Who the hell cares?!

And the episode was all a dream!

No, not even a dream: A fantasy by a man looking at a tattoo, despite the fact that he had never heard of the show!

So they finally dusted off that “Homer gets narcolepsy” story that got pitched during Season 7 but was thrown out because it didn’t work, eh? Add it to the ever-growing list of things that the classic era knew wasn’t good enough to go into the show but the zombie era decides to use anyway because they’ve got nothing else left.

Having narcolepsy is cool, stop mocking it! Sometimes when you get a sleep paralysis you can actually speak to the walrider. It doesn’t reply, but it’s still cool.
Also, fuck you society if that’s what the “20 something”s look like today!

I don’t know about you guys but that was a great episode of Last Man on Earth.

I had to Google who she was, and I am still not fully sure who she is. Apparently she’s a few months older than me (29). That makes this episode fall apart since Homer is 36-38 and he would be more of an older brother instead of a dad type 45-60.

Umm, I’ll take a shot, but apparently “twenty something” means a category of young adults somewhere between 20 and 22, not 28 (the actress’ age). I dated a girl who was 20 last year (myself being almost 30), and even 10 years can make a difference, especially depending on the mentality of the people and their psychological age.

They never did imply that Homer was the same generation as Candace’s dad. Candace’s dad said he was also dating a considerably younger woman, who turned out to be Marge, who we all know is close in age to Homer. I took it as likely being only a 10-15 year age gap for both relationships.

This felt like it was a plot for Family Guy. And because they wanted to keep it Simpsons style, it couldn’t work.

The Fox lineup is like a weird doubledecker shit sandwich. Bob’s Burgers, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and The Last Man on Earth are brilliant shows. Too bad between them is The Simpsons and Family Guy.

TV’s not a person, idiot. Just say you don’t watch TV much or anymore like a normal person.

Meohmyoh… The writing is lazy, uninspired and stale. The writers stick to a very old TV trope formula and Simpsons one as well, brilliant (not really).

I wish Conan would write for the show again.

It is bad that they use the reset button to solve/end the plot instead of solving it and then resetting it (smartly) because they don’t have the choice of keeping the status quo.

Am I the only one that noticed how the woman’s right bra-strap is nearly torn apart (unless that’s meant to be intentional)?

It’s intentional, her boob is covering it.
