“In all the Animal Kingdom, no mother is more devoted than the blue jay. Valuing her eggs above even her own life, the mother bird bravely fights off such fearsome predators as the badger and the mongoose. Of course, one thing mother blue jay can’t defend against is a set of steel tongs.” – Troy McClure

I always laugh at this part in the Troy McClure video, for reasons unknown. The way the mother bluejay just squawks sadly after the steel tongs is hilarious.
That reminds me… wasn’t it Phil Hartman’s birthday recently? Is this to make up for that, in some belated fashion?
Probably. Also, this was one of the final episodes with Hartman doing voicework (I believe the other was…All Singing, All Dancing, which had a chilling part where Snake fires shots at the orchestra over the end credits and whose name should appear but Phil Hartman’s).
Correct me if I’m wrong on whether or not this episode or All Singing All Dancing is Hartman’s final episode. I know Realty Bites was the last time Hartman voiced Lionel Hutz. I just want to know what was the last episode that had Hartman as Troy McClure.
And I don’t get how Charlie Sweatpants can hate “Marge Be Not Proud,” but not say anything about how heavily emotional (in a bad way) this episode was. It even had Marge hating Bart and cutting him off from all affection (complete with heavy-handed use of sad music) just like MBNP, for Christ’s sake.
