“You’re lucky, you only joined the Junior Campers. I got a dirty word shaved in the back of my head.” – Milhouse van Houten
“What is it with you kids and that word? I’m going to shave you bald, young man, until you learn that hair is not a right, it’s a privilege.” – Principal Skinner

See, it’s the quotes like this that make me love Skinner.
Me too.
I remember reading a Simpsons Comic, where it is shown that Skinner’s actually balding and he’s wearing a toupée. I guess the writers originally wanted Skinner to be bald, but they never continued in that direction.
I recall seeing a cel once from a deleted extension of this scene where Skinner beats out a fire with his toupee. Apparently the writers did variants of “Skinner wears a rug” jokes occasionally throughout the classic years, and some of them even made it to the color screening like that one apparently did, but they rarely made the final cut because, in Matt Groening’s own words, “that’s a joke you never want to do” – it was hacky, low-hanging fruit to them, and they never wanted to go with something so easy.
The only one that ever aired was a chalkboard gag – “The principal’s toupee is not a Frisbee”.
“in Matt Groening’s own words, “that’s a joke you never want to do” – it was hacky, low-hanging fruit to them, and they never wanted to go with something so easy.”
Which means the current writers will probably devote an entire episode to Skinner being bald.
I wonder what the word is/was.
