Star Trek XII

“Captain’s log, stardate sixty-fifty-one, had trouble sleeping last night.  My hiatal hernia is acting up.  The ship is drafty and damp.  I complain but, nobody listens.” – Captain Kirk
“Star Trek XII: So Very Tired.  See the original cast in their latest, greatest adventure.” – TV Announcer
“Captain, Klingons off the starboard bow.” – Mr. Sulu
“Again with the Klingons.  Mr. Scott, give me full power.” – Captain Kirk
“It’s no good, captain, I canna reach the control panel.” – Mr. Scott

Happy (belated) 20th Anniversary to “Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie”.  Original airdate 3 November 1992.  (Got lost in the craziness and confusion and mishegoss of the election.)

Also, Charlie, I don’t know if you watched “Adventures in Baby-Getting” but there’s a scene where the family watches the Itchy & Scratchy movie, in 3D. Even Bart, who was banned from seeing the movie in the movie’s episode.

I didn’t watch that one, but that certainly sounds like them. I am planning on doing a Compare & Contrast for this week’s however.

The show gets top marks not just for the beautiful take on Star Trek movies (and the endless sequels to ALL movies which are, today, even worse than when the Simpsons parodied it), but they got the uniforms right on Kirks and the boys too. They weren’t in the most recognisable uniforms from the series, but in the uniforms from the films. Little details, man. Little details.

I never noticed that before, but you’re absolutely right. They could’ve easily gone with the more iconic TV uniforms, but that just wouldn’t have worked as well. Nice catch.

The way Kirk puts his head down and grabs the bridge of his nose as he says it is just perfect.
