“The PTA Disbands” was the first episode I ever saw, as a syndicated rerun in 1999. “There’s very little meat in these gym mats” was one of the very first lines to make me laugh out loud, and it still does.
I think the bestest of Doris’ lines ever was “I get two paychecks with way.”
I can’t picture any show, even among the most syndicated, to make a joke like that and get away with it today. I mean, with all that goes on with the education system right now and all.
