“That’s better.” – Homer Simpson

Last week I mentioned that Simpsons singing group from New York that will be performing in San Diego this Saturday.  Well, they’ve been very generous and offered us two free tickets to their performance.  Like last year with the Mr. Burns play in D.C., none of us can go, but we’ll be giving those tickets to the first person who offers to see it and write us a quickie review for it.  You pick, 5:30pm or 9:30pm on Saturday the 20th at the C3 Performing Arts Center.  (You can watch the trailer video here.)  If you want to see the show but don’t want to write a review, you can always toil in our underground sugar caves or work the lima bean harvest for the first 100,000 years, but we’d rather have a few hundred words about whether or not you liked what you saw.

I’ve also been reminded via e-mail that it is now summer, which means that it’s also the season for guest posts.  I’ve got a couple in the hopper, but if you have a Simpsons related rant/theory/favorite episode/personal story/editorial reply, we’d love to read it.  Pictures and images are welcome, and we’re happy to link back to your blog, Twitter account, or other on-line haunt.  As always, no money and (very) minor internet fame can be yours!

Please e-mail us if you want the tickets or if you have a guest post or post idea.

Oh I’d always love to write something, but the English I’m employing, the fact that I’m too lazy to learn the language I often don’t speak properly, and the severe degree of my Asperger’s surely won’t help. So… why try, right?

I have Aspies to a small degree too! Serious.

I have Asperger’s, and in fact helped start a charity which helps Autistics get jobs and test software, hopefully helping technology advance to the point where we can resurrect guys from graffiti. It is small, but I think it has a lot of potential. Maybe one day, we can sell cars with $40 worth of steel in them.

I wish you good luck in it, whilst having absolutely no idea about what you just said, but… I hope an organism once helps people like me find a job where communication with the others is but a partial aspect.

Awesome to know that too, well said MPF.

          And thanks Stan.

Trying is the first step towards failure, but you’re English is fine and I’m happy to help with editing. Got any ideas?

Well, I could write about how I learned English with the Simpsons… if someone really gives a fuck.
But my initial idea was to compare the latest episodes of the original Simpsons to the first ones of Family Guy to determine where exactly the former has failed.

Too bad I can’t come from Europe. But at least we got better healthcare!

As someone who wrote an guest article for this site a bit back, I can offer a few words of encouragement for anyone else who’s interested in it – they basically just boil down to “do it”, though. But it’s always good to get the writing experience.

Would you accept a post about how Sierra is similar to The Simpsons? It was an unique source of humor and plot that respected the audience’s intelligence and was made with great care and thought; but in the end, Full Motion Video came and turned it into Zombie Sierra. I think anyone who likes The Simpsons should try it. It is also topical, as its former competitor, Lucasarts was destroyed by DIsney recently.

“Would you accept a post about how Sierra is similar to The Simpsons?”

Certainly. I used to love those Sierra games when I was a kid, and my first real on-line experience was on their short lived but excellent The Sierra Network. That thing was great, and I still have the mousepad.

But Sierra was mean! They had very bold and sometimes trollbaiting comments when you died.

Well, it didn’t leave mushroom for improvement, that’s for sure.

Not sure if this has been posted here, but The Simpsons and Family Guy are to have a cross-over:

“Back in 1995, Matt Groening and James L. Brooks had a nasty, very public falling-out over “A Star Is Burns,” the episode that brought The Critic’s Jay Sherman to Springfield for no reason beyond gimmicky cross-promotion and, in Groening’s words, completely “violated the Simpsons’ universe.” But let’s just say Groening has since heard a pitch that moved him, TO A BIGGER HOUSE, leading to this football in the groin: Entertainment Weekly reports that fall 2014 will see a crossover episode between The Simpsons and Family Guy, the erstwhile friendly rival it once winkingly accused of plagiarism, but toward whom it has since grown slightly more welcoming now that we are older and everyone is tired. So tired.”

I love that sexy Burnett female singing featured on one of the previous post’s on DHS with the video regarding these 4 performers from NY and their musical take on Simpsons songs.

Also, love that Roger Myers quote/episode and Sierra games are great, esp. Police Quest! I love Bethesda now (Fallout 3, Oblivion, Rage, Skyrim, etc.)
