I didn’t care too much for this episode, but I have to admit there were some good scenes and jokes throughout

I hate that they cut this scene in syndication (and the part where Bart rides up next to a man who gives the old “If you don’t stop acting up back there, I’m turning this car around” speech to his rowdy kids in the backseat and Nelson slaps the man in the back of the head and makes the family go back to Winnipeg).

(Cont’d): And, according to DVD commentary, the hitchhiker is supposed to be based on the one from the original 1970s version of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”

I actually remember that scene with the panicking dad in the other car, but not this one. Maybe the syndication only cut this one (the joke does appear kinda weird), because Nelson hitting the guy isn’t really offensive or anything.

According to SNPP’s Syndication Cuts Guide, both scenes were removed.

Most of the syndication cuts in America weren’t for content (the ones that were were stuff like Mrs. Krabappel telling Bart that he tried to fake Tourette’s Syndrome being changed to rabies, Mr. Burns calling Smithers a “Chinaman” being changed to “Chinese,” and Bart setting fire to a Bible for Apu’s wedding being changed to a hymnal) they were to make room for more commercial breaks, which sucks because some of the jokes they cut were pretty funny. Matt Groening stated on one of the DVD sets that he hated that and was excited when the show came out to DVD, meaning no commercials and all the lost scenes restored.

I’m glad Family Guy did that fake FCC parody to ridicule the censure some 10 years ago. But then again, I don’t watch TV anymore (they spy on you if you do, did you know that?)

Since Marilyn Burns – the female lead in “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” and someone who appeared in the hitchhiker scene – was reported dead yesterday, can I assume that this Quote of the Day is not a coincidence…?

I’ve seen this episode so many times, like over 20 times over the years, never saw this scene.

Damn syndication cuts, I really need The Simpsons seasons 1-10 on DVD.

Thanks, but I get a lot of used stuff in good condition from Amazon! Most things I get are under $10 used, everything from DVD’s, CD’s, Video Games, Books, Textbooks, Strategy Guides, etc. some being only a penny, others a fe bucks

p.s. Would be nice if I could find a site where El Monstro Del Mar (2010) actually worked.

          :)

Yeah, that might work fine too. I only get it up my ass when people say things like “So you pirate the Simpsons? You don’t respect the actors, the producers and blah blah blah” WTF, they’re making freaking billions! Wake up!

This, btw, was the only episode to my memory in which Nelson was with the rest of the non-bullies and it didn’t feel awkward, like most of Zombie Simpsons.

What about the part where he forces Bart to drive him to the Andy Williams concert? Was that a sign of Nelson zombifying or was it the writers trying to give Nelson more of a human dimension?

        That was a joke.
