Ah, Hans Moleman! Senility always feels like fun when you’re around.
I thought that was Grampa Simpson that did that. Moleman’s schtick was just being an unlucky old man (like when he fell over during his knife fight with Moe, revealing that he’s actually a 31-year-old man with a severe drinking problem, being brainwashed into being a Simpson child, and, in this case, getting stuck in a car that has crashed into the side of a building).
Moleman became filler by pretty much Season 5, so it’s hard to judge. But for some reason I like Moleman’s senility much more than Grandpa’s, whatever the age he is in. Grandpa is just naturally scared or grumpy like any old guy would be. Sometimes he’s clever, sometimes his Alzheimer kicks in.
Moleman is another story. This dude constantly showed up at jobs even Homer Simpson wouldn’t be allowed to occupy due to his stupidity: mobile home truck driver, post office security, etc. At some point in the ZS era (I think) he was ever a king of some mole people race… It’s like the complete opposite of sensed, and therefore I link it to extreme senility where a guy just doesn’t know anymore who he is or was.
Like him in a car, what would he do there? Was he driving it? Is this car even real or still just some prop? It’s not important, because seeing Moleman turn up there already does the joke for me.
“At some point in the ZS era (I think) he was ever a king of some mole people race…” That was “Hello Gutter, Hello Fadder” from season 11 (which someone said was borderline Zombie Simpsons, but, as I said before, Zombie Simpsons is pretty much season 10 to…whatever they are now. I heard season 26, but I hope to God that’s a Hollywood rumor. Sadly, it isn’t) and I thought that was just a throwaway joke the likes of which “Family Guy” would find ridiculous.
Sometimes I wonder if they decided to do a 26th season just to have Family Guy open with that crossover.
(100 gil says someone from FG would eventually bring that up as a joke in there)
I’m thinking they decided to do a 26th season just because people said they couldn’t.
