I love the show’s habit of bestowing posh accents upon talking animals – the turkey here, the chicken in “Whacking Day,” the chimp in “Deep Space Homer,” the pig in “King Size Homer,” etc.

According to the DVD commentary, the writers (or maybe it was the censors) didn’t want to initially do this joke because they didn’t like the idea of Marge being high. I don’t know what made them change their minds. Maybe it was the turkey flying out the oven.
