On the same day we’re talking about St. Eleutherius of Nicomedia, I come across the work of Joseph Cavalieri, an artist who makes stained glass windows with Simpsons characters. The one on the left is from Cavalieri’s site, the one on the right is from Stuff Boston. Much like that hyper-elaborate Homer drawing from a couple of weeks ago, I’m just incredibly impressed by the skill it must take to create something like this. Simpsons Drawn in Sand

Spurlock Update: Simpson Tattoos
The Buffalo News talked with Al Jean and gave us a little bit more information on Spurlock’s thing: Spurlock interviewed a guy from Seattle who really grew a tomato-tobacco combination inspired by Homer’s creation of the “tomacco.” He also found the person with the most Simpson tattoos. I’ve never understood people’s obsession with “tomacco” as one of the great cultural brain droppings of the show. Then again, I’m not overly fond of that episode and I hate tomatoes. Homer Cubed (Papercraft Style)
Via paperkraft.net comes a papercraft Homer. Click here for links to the instructions and a printable design so you can try this at home. You’ll need a color printer, glue, a sharp knife, some kind of cutting board, and a toothpick. I have a few of those things, but I won’t be attempting this. You see, I am perpetually horrible at arts & crafts and am likely to end up gluing my fingers together, and if that happens I won’t be able to use the teevee remote.
Awesomely Elaborate Homer Portrait
“You know, I’m no art critic, but I know what I hate, and I don’t hate this.” – C.M. Burns An artist named Randal Roberts painted this magnificent portrait of Homer. I have a hard time drawing stick figures, so to me that is really amazing. I especially like the dueling Marges along the sides. (There’s a more detailed description and some background here.) I know what I’m going to spend ten minutes staring at next time I’m stoned.
